About the Project

The MBTW Group was retained by the Town of East Gwillimbury to lead the re-design of Emily Park and design the extension of the Simcoe Trail from Stonehill Boulevard to Thompson Drive in the Town of Holland Landing.

Emily Park is approximately 1.01 acres in size and features play equipment, an open space play area and existing storm water management pond surrounded by mature trees. MBTW provided an upgraded design for the park including new play area, asphalt walkways that adhered to AODA requirements, armourstone retaining walls, site furnishings and tree planting.

Our office also prepared a 500 meter extension of the Simcoe Trail, which is an important link to Holland Landings active transportation system. The proposed trail consists of 200 linear meters of limestone screenings trail and 290 linear meters of raised boardwalk through the Town’s Open Space Lands.

MBTW was responsible for the conceptual design, extensive public consultation coordinating of a Trail Impact Study with the Environmental Sub Consultant, detailed design, approvals with LSRCA, preparation of tender documents and coordination with our Structural Engineering Sub Consultant.
